Song Circle: Community Singing for Everyone Who Loves or Wants to Sing

Saturday, January 22, 10:00 am – 12:00 noon Song Circle: Community Singing for Everyone Who Loves or Wants to Sing A sing-a-long session just for the fun of singing with other voices. We’ll draw songs from a deep bag of musical styles: folk, old-time, traditional ballads, chants, classic country, gospel, blues and pop, and we’ll sing in French, Spanish, English and Sanskrit (yes, Sanskrit!)
Wednesday, February 9, 6:00 – 8:00 pm Song Circle: Songs for Mardi Gras and Carnival A sing-a-long session to get ready for Mardi Gras and Carnival celebrations with songs from Louisiana and beyond.
Saturday, March 12, 3:00 – 5:00 pm Song Circle: Songs of Louisiana’s Musical Roots A sing-a-long session to honor the singing traditions of some of Louisiana’s early cultures such as Native American, Spanish, Colonial French, African, Acadian, Creole, Cajun, German, American and Isleño (Canary Islanders).
Lyrics for all sessions will be provided when necessary. Singing will be call and response, in unison and with harmonies. These workshops are for all levels of singing experience, including those of you who were told never to sing!
Classes led by Marce Lacouture and special guests $15 per workshop/$10 for AcA and LFR members For all three workshops, $40/$25 for AcA and LFR members
