SUMMARY:Milton Arceneaux: Monochrome Roots, Vibrant Rhythms
DESCRIPTION:“Monochrome Roots, Vibrant Rhythms” is a Black History Month exhibit by photographer Milton Arceneaux, celebrating the legacy of Creoles of Color through his lens. This collection features 20 honorees selected from the past two years of Louisiana Creole Culture’s annual recognition, which celebrates individuals whose remarkable contributions span fields such as medicine, education, and agriculture. While only 20 portraits are featured in the exhibit, two 12×16 luxury table books showcasing all 40 honorees from 2023 and 2024 will be on display, offering a comprehensive look at the breadth of their achievements.\nComplementing the honoree portraits is a dynamic series capturing a Creole Zydeco jam session. Featuring young musicians and living legends from the first families of Zydeco, these images are styled with a vintage aesthetic, adding texture and timelessness to the vibrant rhythms of Creole music.\nShot entirely with Arceneaux’s favorite 85mm lens, the exhibit masterfully blends the timeless elegance of monochrome portraits with the energy of Zydeco, offering a powerful tribute to Creoles of Color and their profound contributions to culture and heritage.\n
