Formed in the late 1970s, the band has been performing together for over 45 years, earning a loyal fan base across Louisiana and beyond.\nAtchafalaya gained National and International attention through their high energy performances, heartfelt songwriting, and commitment to preserving Cajun culture while evolving their sound. They toured overseas, performing in countries like Turkey, Morocco, Czechoslovakia and Portugal, where they were praised for their musicianship and cultural outreach.\nThe band has featured a lineup of talented Louisiana musicians, including lead guitarist/singer Charlie Rees, rhythm guitarist/singer Chris Foreman, guitarist/fiddle player/singer Larry Menard, bass Lance Lafargue, and longtime drummer David Varisco. They have performed at festivals, concert halls, and community events throughout the Gulf south.
