Individual Artist Relief Grant

The purpose of this grant is to provide relief directly to individual Louisiana artists impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic or other natural disasters that affected our state in 2020. The Louisiana Division of the Arts (LDOA) is partnering with 9 Regional Arts Councils throughout the state, including the Acadiana Center for the Arts, to administer grant awards in amounts up to $1,500 each. Please read the guidelines below and access the link to LDOA’s online application through Submittable to begin your application.

Applications will be accepted starting Monday, March 29, 2021 and the deadline to apply will be Friday, April 16, 2021 by 12 midnight.

Individual Artist Relief Grant Guidelines

Eligibility Criteria

  1. The artist/applicant must be an individual artist, defined as one who is dedicated to producing artwork on a regular basis, for at least the past year, as a means of generating income and is able to provide at least two of the following: (a) link to professional website or social media account; (b) uploaded resume, CV, or brief bio; (c) uploaded examples of at least 3 work samples.
  2. The artist/applicant must be able to describe how they have lost income as a working artist due to COVID-19 or other natural disasters that affected our state in 2020.
  3. The artist/applicant must be 18 years of age or older.
  4. The artist/applicant must be a resident of the state of Louisiana.
  5. The artist/applicant must not be a current board member, honorary committee member, major funder, staff member, or immediate family member of such a person of the Acadiana Center for the Arts, who is administering this grant.
  6. The artist/applicant cannot apply on behalf of any organization, collective, company, band, group, and/or ensemble.

ID and Residency Requirement

All applicants selected for funding must provide one of the following identification and proof of residency as well as a completed W-9 in order to receive payment.

Valid Forms of ID

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • State Identification Card
  • Student Identification Card
  • Military Identification Card
  • Passport
  • Photo Identification (defined as an item containing photo of applicant and first and last name of applicant)
  • CPO-One Door Identification Card

Proof of Address

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Property Tax Receipt
  • Posted Mail with name of applicant
  • Utility Bill
  • Lease Agreement
  • Insurance Card
  • Voter Registration Card
  • College Enrollment Papers

Note on Taxable Income

If you are awarded funds from this program, you will receive a 1099 FORM from Acadiana Center for the Arts, as we are required by law to report grant awards to the IRS. 

Income you receive from this program is taxable; however, expenses from your grant can be deductible.  Click here to go to the IRS page and bullet 2(c) may be of assistance to handling individual grants. If you have any further question, we recommend you contact a tax consultant.
