In this workshop, we will construct a simple, sewn signature book. Examples and directions  for various other kinds of bindings will be offered, as well as ideas for media and materials. This is a wonderful project for middle and high school students that allows them to create books that are personal, and that can be used for creative writing, art-making, or as gifts for people in their lives.

The workshop will present the idea of an artistic journey in self-awareness that uses words as prompts. This approach also incorporates techniques for introducing mindfulness practice as a preparation for idea generation and journal work. Through this project, students are encouraged to create a personal response, and to explore visual possibilities for interpretation.
