ARTIVISM: A Workshop with Joshua Castille


Elevating the arts with inclusion and diversity is a workshop presented by Broadway veteran Joshua Castille. He is a Deaf actor who is gaining recognition in the theatre and film world for his work with elevating scripts. Using his experience as a deaf person, he has developed techniques to add layers to characters. He has found success in a Broadway run of Deaf West's Spring Awakening, as well as 5th Avenue's production of Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame. However, in a world of storytelling, Joshua has found a voice has been missing; the voice of disabilities and other minorities. In this workshop, he will introduce: "ARTIVISM".

Through discussions and hands on activities, Joshua will focus on building relationships to broaden your audiences and community through authentic inclusion and collaboration.

Acadiana Center for the Arts (AcA) is a publicly supported 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are the central cultural hub of Acadiana, an eight-parish region comprised of Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, and Vermilion Parishes. From our origins as an arts council established in 1975, we have transformed into one of the largest arts organizations in Louisiana.
