LAFAYETTE, LA – May 20, 2024 – Acadiana Center for the Arts is thrilled to announce the recipients of their two student artist awards, Jean Breaux Award and Courtney Granger Memorial Award. This year AcA will award ten total recipients a total of $7,500.

Both awards support Acadiana-based high school and college students with new creative endeavors. The Courtney Granger Memorial Award focuses on students with a passion for traditional music, in memory of the late musician.

Courtney Granger’s father Kenneth, who helps chair the award selection in his son’s name, says, “One of the best things about being part of the award committee is informing an applicant they will be receiving an award to help them support their study of music. This is something I will never get tired of.”

2024 Courtney Granger Memorial Award recipients:
● Ethan Moody, a college student will be undertaking guitar lessons with Chas Justus

●  Elias Smith, a highschool student who will be taking accordion lessons with Reggie Matte

Acadiana Center for the Arts Executive Director, Sam Oliver, says “these remarkable young people represent only the tip of the iceberg for a bright and talented future of Acadiana. AcA’s board and staff are delighted to help them at a critical step in their creative journeys.”
