30 Years Dancing with Mind & Matter: Steve Breaux & Kathy Reed

Acadiana Center for the Arts is proud to showcase a two-person exhibition of long time collaborators Kathy Reed and Steve Breaux. 30 Years Dancing With Mind & Matter features artworks created in collaboration as well as those of each as singular artists. The duo is a significant presence in Acadiana known by their contributions within the local community in education, visual arts, writing and criticism as well as their curation of exhibitions.

In the studio, Breaux and Reed have developed a rich body of work; a diversity ranging from two- to three-dimensions, they are paintings, drawings, works on silk and other fabrics, even including process and conceptual artworks. Through this output the duo has explored questions concerning local and regional cultural issues, all the way down to their immediate physical environment. Ideas of quantum physics, time, memory, and the nature of consciousness are evidenced in their vast oeuvre. There is an intentionality in their work as it relates across the local to the international and further embracing the universal.
