What books are you reading right now?
Kathy is currently reading The Academy by Elin Hilderbrand.
Andy is reading Florida Palms by Joe Pan and both of us are reading The King of Zydeco: The Life, Music, and Legacy of Clifton Chenier by Todd Mouton.
What music are you listening to right now?
Right Now—Medicine Ball Caravan! Kathy and I listen to a variety of radio music provided by KRVS and WWOZ.
Some of our KRVS favorites are the Medicine Ball Caravan, American Routes, Zydeco Stomp,
Comme les Vieux Temps, La Nation Creole, and The Blues Box. WWOZ favs. are The Blues Breakdown, Jazz from Jazz Brewery, and New Orleans Music Show. I’m currently listening to music from all Artists that are scheduled to play at ACA in 2026.
Do you have a hobby or craft that fills your spare time?
Kathy–Helping/Volunteer for Non Profit groups, Reading, listening to music,
Andy—Listening to music, watching sports live and on TV, taking walks, golf, fishing
Tell us about your favorite vacation or place you’ve traveled to.
We both love the Florida Beaches. Colorado, California and Alaska were very fun and interesting trips.
What are some of your favorite places to visit or frequent in Acadiana?
Too many to list but ACA is one of our favorites!
Tell us about an accomplishment you’re especially proud of.
Serving as volunteers and helping various Non Profit Groups and having a family.
What art forms are you most drawn to (even if you’re not a practicing artist)?
Examples can include visual arts, live music, theater/dance, film, literature, culinary arts, photography, public art, cultural traditions, etc.
We are drawn to live music, and visual arts. Also enjoy culinary arts and some film.
Why did you join AcA, and do you remember your first AcA experience?
We first visited the ACA on November 6th, 2010 — the day of the Grand Opening Lyle Lovett concert. The show was sold out but we did get to tour the facility and were very impressed.
We watched our first several shows from the Mezzanine Section and eventually moved towards the front section. a few years later we continued to increase our support and time enjoying ACA.
What has been your favorite performance or event hosted by AcA?
Too many good shows to have only one favorite–Keb Mo, J J Grey, Lake Street Dive, Lucinda Williams, Aaron Neville, and Irma Thomas
What is an AcA tradition, program, or annual event you look forward to every year?
We always enjoyed Gulf Brew. And Ronnie Daigle’s & Patricia Cran’s Christmas party!
What’s the most memorable artist talk, workshop, or gallery opening you’ve attended at AcA?
A few years ago we watched an interview with Bobby Rush and Herman Fusilier a few hours before Bobby’s show. It was very entertaining.
What excites you most about AcA’s future or our upcoming projects/initiatives?
I think the current programming is excellent.
If you could bring any performer, speaker, or artist to the AcA stage, who would it be?
Dave Mathews solo singing and playing acoustic guitar—
