LAFAYETTE, LA – June 2, 2024 – Acadiana Center for the Arts is proud to announce its next Main Gallery exhibition – Ceramics Now: Contemporary and Traditional Practices in Acadiana.
This exhibition is the most comprehensive survey of ceramicists in the region to-date. Featuring the work of more than sixty artists, this exhibition looks at the scope of ceramics being created in Acadiana today.
Ceramics Now offers viewers an extensive exploration of the ceramic arts, showcasing a wide array of artworks ranging from functional and traditional forms to purely visual and Avant-Garde pieces. This diverse collection highlights the rich and varied ceramic practices thriving in Acadiana today.
Each year, AcA hosts a group exhibition with an open call to artists in the region, culminating in a juried selection process. Ceramics Now is AcA’s annual juried group exhibition for the summer of 2024, bringing together the finest ceramic works from local artists.
This exhibition’s jury is composed of esteemed ceramic artists Susan Chiquelin, Burnell Lemoine, Bruce Odell, and Chris Pate, whose expertise and discerning eyes have selected artwork that celebrates both contemporary innovations and traditional craftsmanship in ceramics.
“We are excited to present this medium specific exhibition that not only reflects the vibrant ceramic arts community in Acadiana but also offers a platform for both established and emerging artists to display their work,” says Jaik Faulk, Acadiana Center for the Arts’ Visual Arts Director. “This exhibition is a testament to the creativity and skill of our local artists, and we invite everyone to come and experience the breadth of ceramic art in our community.”
