LAFAYETTE, LA – An exclusive, one time performance of Femme II is happening at the Acadiana Center for the Arts on June 23 at 7:30pm, as part of the Louisiana Crossroads Series, presented by First Horizon Bank.

Tickets are available online at acadianacenterforthearts.org and through the AcA’s Box Office 9am-5pm Tue-Sat (337-233-7060, 101 W. Vermilion Street, Downtown Lafayette).

Led by guest curator and renowned vocalist Anna Laura Edmiston with director and collaborator Lian Cheramie of Cajun Face, this performance is a follow up to Femme, a celebration of women in Acadiana music, which took place in 2018 as part of the Louisiana Crossroads series at the Acadiana Center for the Arts in downtown Lafayette, LA.

Femme II will feature a whole new cast of women in South Louisiana including Sweet Cecilia, Erica Fox, Sheryl Cormier, Gina Forsyth, Michelle Colón, Marguerite Justus, Viola Fontenot, and more.

Through a thematic lens of the natural elements of earth, wind, water and fire, performers from various musical genres and artistic disciplines will gather in this iridescent collage of artistry and music.

Audience members will be taken on a journey through time and space, with live musical, dance and spoken word performances interwoven with archival audio and visual footage provided by the Center for Louisiana Studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Femme II will unfold against a projected backdrop of original artwork by local artist Erin Broussard as a visual accompaniment to this multicultural and multigenerational cast of Louisiana female performers.

Immediately following the show, AcA will host a Q&A session with the performers and producers – plan to stick around!

From its inception in 2001, the Louisiana Crossroads music series has presented more than 140 shows, including stars like Henry Butler (season 1), The Preservation Hall Jazz Band (Season 10), Allen Toussaint (Season 13), Rhiannon Giddens (Season 15), and many more.
