Artists’ Alliance

Drawing heavily on the archives of the late artist group, the Artists’ Alliance, AcA will mount a retrospective that showcases the work of this influential group of artists and reimagine what is was like to be there in person. 

Through archives, artworks, and immersive installation, the AcA Main Gallery will be an environment designed for today’s viewers to soak up the energy of this dynamic group of artists.

Visitors will experience their past performances through multiple gatherings during the run of the show as well as a relaunch of their signature event Tattooed Walls.

This exhibition will allow us to introduce a new generation of audiences to a very important group of artists who set the stage for our contemporary art landscape, this being done right next door in the old Lafayette Hardware Store.

This building cradled their creativity and allowed these artists to create challenging and experimental works as well as a home for communal gatherings. In telling the story of these artists, we will also be sharing an important chapter in the history of this significant landmark in our community.
