Join local arts and culture writer Brooke Broussard in conversation with former members of the historic Artists’ Alliance, a contemporary artists collective that operated in downtown Lafayette from 1986 to 1999. The Artists’ Alliance, as the name implies, was created entirely by artists for artists, specifically those who felt they didn’t fit into the traditional scene at the time. But how did they do it? What does it take to create a grassroots organization from the ground up that lasts for almost 15 years?

From applying for grants and organizing events to cultivating a mindset of flexibility, this is a rare opportunity to learn how to build a collective from the artists who’ve done it themselves.
