Join AcA & Festivals Acadiens et Créoles for a very special unveiling of the 2026 pin & poster art!
The annual pre-festival poster and supporter pin unveiling during 2nd Saturday ArtWalk on September 12, 2026. Each year the Festval selects one of Acadiana’s finest artists to design the poster and the pin.
The ceremony will be at 5:45 pm in the AcA atrium, followed by poster and pin sales, live music by the UL School of Music Traditional Music Ensembles, refreshments, and social time.
2026 is the 51st year of the Cajun and Creole music, food, and crafts festival, October 9-11 in Girard Park. This year’s programmatic theme is FUSION, featuring innovative genre blending with explorations of how our music is evolving.
The ceremony coincides with the exhibit opening in AcA’s Main Gallery. Artists’ Alliance is a retrospective of the Lafayette Artist Alliance, a 1980s-90s collaborative that spawned many of the characteristic features of art in Acadiana.
About Festivals Acadiens et Créoles 2026
This year, the theme of Festivals Acadiens et Créoles is Fusion: Fêtant notre gombo de cultures [Fusion: Celebrating our Gumbo of Cultures]. In recognition of the 250th anniversary of our country, Festivals Acadiens et Créoles will be celebrating our own regional version of the American melting pot, a creolized gumbo pot of culture, music and cuisine. As part of what became America, South Louisiana has been and continues to be influenced by a rich and complex cultural blend of sounds, styles and flavors. In turn, we have also influenced the country and other parts of the world with the cultural expressions that we have developed and continue to improvise. This year, we are also joining forces with the Smithsonian Institution’s Festival of American Folklife, which has frequently featured Cajun and Creole music and culture at their annual event. Smithsonian Folklife Program Director Ralph Rinzler was one of the advisors who influenced our first concert in 1974. We will be celebrating our long-standing relationship with the Smithsonian with special performances, a revival of our original outdoor stage (from 1976), a photographic exhibition, and workshop and symposium presentations, which will also explore our complex cultural influences.
