Jean Breaux Award
The Jean Breaux Award is a grant program of the AcA for high school and college students in the 8-parish region of Acadiana including Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, and Vermilion Parishes.
This program provides financial support to practicing young artists who are interested in enhancing their skills through participation in advanced study beyond what is available in their present school curriculum.
Recognized arts disciplines for this program are performing arts, visual arts, dance, folklife, literary arts, media arts, music, theater, and arts administration.

Application Deadline: March 21, 2025 submitted via the online form by 4:30pm
Notification Date: Week of April 28, 2025
Award Amount: Up to $1,000

Eligible Applicants:
- Be a US citizen or permanent resident and a resident of Acadiana’s 8-parish region (Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, or Vermilion), and remain a resident for the duration of the grant period
- Be enrolled in a public or private high school, community college or university and is a practicing artist, defined as one who is dedicated to producing artwork on a regular basis. Preference will be given to students who have an overall grade point average of “B” or higher on their high school or college transcripts.
- Have a signed letter from a parent or guardian giving the student/artist permission to participate in this program (if applicant is under 18 years of age)
