LAFAYETTE, LA, March 12, 2024 – This Thursday, Herman Fuselier will take the mic as the new host of the Louisiana Crossroads series. The performance series celebrates its 24th year as a program of Acadiana Center for the Arts, presented by First Horizon Bank.
Fuselier’s first concert as host is this Thursday, March 14, at 7:30pm with the Rising Stars Fife and Drum Band featuring Shardé Thomas. Tickets are available at acadianacenterforthearts.org or by calling the AcA’s box office at 337-233-7060.
“In the Louisiana Crossroads series, we learn the stories of artists and deepen our understanding of what makes the culture of this place unique, and nobody is better suited to that task than Herman Fuselier,” says Samuel Oliver, Executive Director of the Acadiana Center for the Arts.
Fuselier says “I’ve long been a fan of the Louisiana Crossroads series. The opportunity to serve as host is a tremendous honor. Musicians move us with their music. But we don’t always hear the stories behind their songs and lives.”

Fuselier says “I’ve enjoyed telling those stories throughout my life. I look forward to more through Crossroads. But I apologize in advance for screaming like a Swiftie when I finally get to meet Irma Thomas, the Soul Queen of New Orleans!”
DIrector of Tourism for St. Landry Parish, and a longtime journalist covering Louisiana’s music scene, Fuselier has written for Offbeat Magazine of New Orleans, Oxford American, Living Blues, The Daily Advertiser, Times of Acadiana, and now The Acadiana Advocate.
As a historian and musicologist, Fuselier has written liner notes for Lil’ Nate, Leon Chavis, Nathan & the Zydeco Cha Chas, Beau Jocque, Jeffery Broussard, and the World Music Network of Australia.
A noted storyteller and historian, Fuselier is the author of Ghosts of Good Times: South Louisiana Dance Halls Past and Present, which examines the world of Cajun dance halls, Zydeco clubs, Chitlin’ Circuit R&B nightclubs, Swamp-Pop Honkytonks and other venues that at one time were prevalent throughout the region.
