LAFAYETTE, LA – The Acadiana Center for the Arts’ Spotlight Theatre and Dance series, proudly presented by Standard Title, is thrilled to unveil “Sediment,” a captivating performance that fuses music, dance, and multimedia art.
Renowned Lafayette choreographer Whitney Willis Hebert and her brother, acclaimed New Orleans composer Reid Willis, have once again joined creative forces to bring this immersive experience to life. Known for their innovative contributions to the performing arts, the Willis siblings are set to mesmerize audiences with “Sediment,” a multimedia concert that delves into the profound connections between human emotions and the earth’s natural cycles.
“Sediment” is a visceral exploration of themes like loss, transformation, and renewal, paralleled with nature’s processes of erosion, decay, and rebirth. This performance builds upon Reid Willis’s latest album, also titled “Sediment,” and translates its evocative soundscapes into a stimulating live experience. The show is a true collaboration, where live music, abstract film, and contemporary dance intertwine to create an atmosphere of deep emotional resonance.
This marks the first official stage collaboration between Whitney and Reid Willis, although they have a history of contributing to each other’s work. Their past collaborations include Whitney’s 2018 debut “THIRST” and Reid’s 2021 album “Piano Reworks – Live at the Marigny Opera House.”
The music of “Sediment” will be brought to life by Reid Willis on piano, accompanied by Brett Hebert on guitar, bass, and drums, and Arco Music’s ensemble of violin, viola, and cello. The dance ensemble, led by Whitney Willis Hebert, features the talents of professional dancers Nicole Curtis,
Rachel Geiger, and Natalie Kojis.
Performances are August 29th and 30th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for “Sediment” range $30-$40 and can be found online at acadianacenterforthearts.org.
