
Lafayette Parish Student Arts Expo – Rain Plan Activated
Returning for its 15th year, Lafayette Parish Student Arts Expo is happening Saturday, March 15!
Experience the arts at this year’s Expo with performances and visual arts exhibitions from our Lafayette Parish public schools.
Student Arts Expo is a free and family-friendly festival of student artwork, live performances, and fun arts activities.
Due to Saturday’s weather forecast,
we have activated the Rain Plan!
New Start Time: To ensure the safety and comfort of all participants, the event will now begin at 12pm and run until 6pm.
Student Arts Expo is an explosion of creativity from the next generation of creative leaders. With 3 stages and 30 exhibition locations throughout Downtown Lafayette, Student Arts Expo is a true community event. This event brings over 6,000 individuals to downtown Lafayette and showcases artwork and performances by more than 2,000 students from pre-K to 12th grade.
The event features many arts activities, including a marching Art Parade, Art in Action live painting demonstrations, hands-on art Activities for All, the Student Artist Market, and new this year Dance! Dance!, an interactive dance activity that encourages attendee participation.
Performance Location Adjustments: The performance schedule has been modified to accommodate all student groups. While additional changes may be necessary, these are the major updates:
- The Sans Souci Band Stage will move indoors to Rock’n’Bowl, located at 905 Jefferson St.
- The Solo Stage at Parc Lafayette will move indoors to the AcA’s Side Gallery, located at 101 W. Vermilion St.
Visual Arts Adjustments: All visual arts exhibition locations remain unchanged except for Art on the Line artwork, which will now be displayed inside the AcA’s first floor.
Activity Schedule & Location Adjustments:
- Kickoff Parade & Opening Ceremonies will start at 12pm.
- The Student Artist Market & Arts in Education Roundup will move indoors to 551 Jefferson St. (next to Vestal Restaurant).
- Art in Action live painting will take place inside AcA’s café seating area.
- Rooster Rebirth large-scale live painting will move to AcA’s atrium.
- Dance, Dance! will be relocated to the AcA’s ArtHouse on the 2nd floor.
- MacLaff Hands-on Arts Activities will move into AcA and run from 2-6pm.
- Painters’ Alley has been canceled due to weather concerns.
