Rock, Paper, Scissors

Margo Baker and Edward deMahy join together to present a combined body of work that speaks to their respective artistic journey. Margo fines inspiration in the shape, colors, smells and sounds of the capricious Louisiana weather and Louisiana landscape.

“What lies beneath the the leaves and foliage of a tree reveal its origins and secrets.”

Edward practices a meditative approach of creating in the moment, relinquishing control, being part of the process.

”Art work is a residual artifact of the creative experience”

Edward is a multi-talented artist with professional experiences in the visual arts, music, dance, theater, and crafts. After receiving a MFA in printmaking he has gone on to participate in several group shows and solo exhibitions. His work has been collected internationally. deMahy is a member of the Louisiana Craft Guild. As a founding member of the Artist Alliance Edward served as the President/Chairman and is currently the Vice-President of the Lafayette Art Association.

As a native of South Louisiana, Margo Baker relies on the richness of her surroundings as
inspiration for her artwork. Whether it be a person or a place, a moment or a day, a dream or an
awakening, she translates the experience into something for others to see.

Margo began making her art at the age of seven. As a child she was the day dreaming doodler.
She received her formal art education at the University of Southwestern Louisiana.
Children have enjoyed Margo’s teaching for over 25 years in both classroom and private
settings. She has facilitated large public art projects for children and written the grants to fund
those projects.

Her bold use of color and confident strokes are quick and unguarded. She often uses paper
and metal to compliment acrylic paint, layering and combining the mediums.
