08 Feb 2020 - 29 Feb 2020
"Takuna El Shabazz" detail of a portrait by Casey Harman 2019

This exhibition if free and open to the public.

In addition to regular weekly public gallery hours (10am-5pm Monday to Saturday), this exhibition is on view prior to AcA performances and opens the evening of Second Saturday ArtWalk on February 8.

About the Exhibition

Conversation Starters presents “Voices of Race in Portrait,” an exhibit of portraits and interviews collected across the region. Twenty subjects tell compelling stories about the role race has played in their lives to over a dozen trained facilitators/story collectors. Dozens of photographers throughout our region have stepped forward to capture these subjects in portrait form, using their unique styles and approaches.

This project will be featured in AcA’s Coca-Cola Studio from February 8 – February 29, 2020 in honor of Black History Month.
