Summer Group Exhibition – Call for Artists

Are you a practicing artist interested in showing your work at Acadiana Center for the Arts?

 

We’re happy to offer the opportunity to submit your artwork for consideration in our next group exhibition, Our Point In Space, curated by Luminous Lookout.

 

Visual artists working in any medium are encouraged to apply.

Applications are open until Sunday, May 4th, 2025.

As in years past, Acadiana Center for the Arts dedicates its summer time main gallery exhibition to a thematic group exhibition, open to works submitted by artists of Acadiana and beyond. This year artists are asked to submit works which adhere to the thematic – Our Point is Space. The jurors from Luminous Lookout have created this framework as a point of departure for artists which provides a wide variety of interpretations.

Our Point in Space

This theme invites artists to explore their place in the world—personally, regionally, or globally. How do we define where we stand, physically or metaphorically? Through structure, narrative, abstraction, or representation, artists are encouraged to examine their connection to space, identity, and the forces that shape their sense of belonging.

About Luminous Lookout

Luminous Lookout is a group of three Southern Louisiana based artists, including: Dawn Black, Kathryn Hunter, and Kelli Scott Kelley. Using representational imagery, their work visualizes narratives to inspire social dialogue and critique. Teetering moral ambiguities, existential repetitions, and anthropomorphic allegories are shared threads woven throughout all the artists’ work.

How it works:

    • Applications open March 21st, 2025, and close May 4th, 2025.
    • The application fee is free for AcA members and $25 for non-members.
    • To be considered for entry, all work must be completed after January 1, 2022.
    • Artists are limited to 10 works for consideration.
    • If accepted, artists are required to hand deliver works to Acadiana Center for the Arts, 101 W. Vermilion St, Lafayette LA 70501 by May 22nd, 2025.

If accepted, artists are financially responsible for all costs associated with shipping - see submission guidelines for full details. 

All artwork accepted for inclusion in this exhibition are subject to AcA's Standard Loan & Exhibition Agreement provided within the submission guidelines. 

I certify that I am 18 years of age or older as of January 1, 2025 and the works submitted are my own. I have read, understood, and agree to the entirety of the Submission Guidelines and Loan Agreement provided.
