Basin Arts

Arts Integrated Field Trips:

Basin Arts offers arts integrated field trips for students of all ages We work with each teacher to develop an experience unique to their desired subject area, as explored through movement and visual arts! When field trip groups visit to Basin Arts, they tour the space and hear directly from some of our resident artists about their experiences as working professional artists. Then students are taken through a workshop combining movement and visual arts co-facilitated by a professional dance artist and professional visual artist. Content areas have included geometry, mapmaking, French language studies, animal life, and more. Letto create something unique for your school!

Additionally, some upper middle school and high school class field trips also include a public art walking tour of Downtown Lafayette led by one of our resident artists. We love connecting art to the broader community and helping students to learn how art is an influential tool in what makes a city unique and inviting!

Basin Arts is a container for creativity that supports and implements cross-disciplinary collaboration, allowing Lafayette’s creative class to come together, share, experiment, and focus on process over product. Basin Arts creates opportunities for artistic expression across generations aimed at enhancing the artistic identity of our community. This includes offering affordable dance classes and art classes, free visual arts programming, and genre-bending special events.

Basin Arts is also the home to the professional company-in-residence, Basin Dance Collective and our art rental program, BARE Walls.

UL College of the Arts

Learn. Create. Inspire.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette College of the Arts is passionate about the power of the arts.

They believe that artists’ works are like a mirror, using music, color, movement, and design to interpret and reflect the world around them. Hold up your own mirror, and share what you see.

UL Lafayette is the only university in Louisiana to have one college devoted solely to artistic education and production in music and performing arts, visual arts, and design.

They have undergraduate and master’s programs, taught by faculty whose lives are devoted to creating, performing, and showcasing high quality art. You’ll find your artistic voice and style, and gain the foundation you need to begin your career as a working artist.

Join them today. See their programs, learn more about our work in the community, or contact them to set up a visit today!
